To become a referee affiliated with the USSF you must be certified by your specific state’s specific referee association. For Washington, the organization is WASRC.
The next step is to create an account here. You will automatically be directed to the next step for verification.
After creating an account, you must register for an online New Referee Pre Clinic which includes online modules and quizzes. They are fairly straightforward for anyone who has watched or played soccer. You can also register for a required In-person clinic at this time, but it is recommended you wait as completing the online clinic is required.
After completing all the online modules, register for an in-person clinic. This link is a very good resource, but essentially once you complete all the lessons you should see a New Referee Field Clinic button. Click this button and pay $90 to register.
Once you are done with the 4 hour in person referee clinic, you can begin signing up for games. On our website there are the main organizations in the Seattle Area, but regardless of where you live you will likely get a list of referee assignors in your area (ask if you do not get one). Contact them and get to reffing!

You will need to spend around $60 on referee gear, and the official provider is Official Sports. Don't worry though, you will make the $150 you spend on gear and training back in a few games.
